The numbers 5 to 25 have become a rallying cry for our Mission.
Hopefully, the numbers 5 to 25 will become embedded in all of our minds. 5 to 25 is a number we deal with daily at our Women and Children’s Center (formerly called Bethany House). So, what is 5 to 25? 5 to 25 is the range of the number of women we turn away from our Women and Children’s Center every day of the year. It is breaking our hearts to tell a woman that, “there is no room at the inn”… so you’ll have to go back and live in the park tonight with your children and call us tomorrow.
Not only is our shelter full, but the other shelter options in our community for women and children are also full. Women and their children are living on our streets every night…unsafe, hungry, and lonely! Women and children remain the fastest growing segment of the homeless population. Domestic violence, loss of income, release from prison, family crisis, poor choices, and/or substance abuse are some of the reasons that women and their children end up homeless and without hope.
For those we have room for each day, there is indeed hope and help. But for the 5 to 25, life continues to spiral downward. God is bringing them to our doors…we must now step out in faith.
Our board has agreed to prayerfully seek God for the expansion of our Women and Children’s Center. We don’t know if it will be another property, land and a new building, or whatever. We just know that God has something BIG in mind to meet the needs of these women and children.
I truly believe that God will not only provide a new…twice as large facility…but He will provide our women and children with the largest, nicest and most complete facility and program for women and children in all of our city. We serve an awesome God and where He takes us will be a reflection of His majesty and abundant provisions.
If you’d like to be a part of the vision for the new facility, please remember to keep this in your prayers. We truly want to see God amazingly meet this need and demonstrate His love and compassion to our community. If you want to make a contribution for this endeavor, please send it to 326 W. 28th St., Tucson, 85713. Please put a note with your check, “to be used for the 5 to 25 Building Fund”. We are keeping it in a building fund to have ready for when God opens the doors...figuratively and literally.
Let’s turn 5 to 25 into a big ZERO. Roy E. Tullgren III Executive Director - Pastor
