VOTE…NO on PROPOSITION 301

In 1996, the AZ voters approved the Drug Medicalization, Prevention and Control Act. Through programs like Drug Court, this law provides mandatory probation and treatment for low-level drug offenders. It allows people to receive treatment first…not a mandatory prison sentence.

If 301 passes, low level Meth offenders would receive mandatory prison instead of treatment…while low-level crimes involving other drugs, such as cocaine, continue to receive probation and treatment.

People can recover as effectively from Meth as with any other drug…and we see it regularly here at the Mission.

Prison costs about $20,000 a year per person, so treatment would save the tax payers millions of dollars a year…let alone give a person a real chance to get help and recovery.

If it was your loved one, I’m sure you would want them to have a chance for treatment in lieu of prison.

Let the Mission help those who need it…treatment works and prison costs, so vote NO on Prop 301.
