“But as thrilled as I am to look back at 2018, my heart is soaring when I look ahead — because God has opened incredible doors of unprecedented opportunity to minister to more homeless and hurting people than ever before . . . and more effectively than ever before.”
With the building of the Center of Opportunity in the works, Executive Director Roy Tullgren looks forward at the future of Gospel Rescue Mission and their capacity to serve more hurting.
Look what you did! It’s awesome. . . .
You have helped to re-shape the entire Tucson area — lifting people out of tragedy and despair — giving them a whole new chance at life — through your generous support of Gospel Rescue Mission!
I’m so grateful . . . and so are the thousands of children and adults whose lives have been beautifully touched and transformed by God’s love, thanks to you, this past year.
You helped provide 4,258 food box meals . . . and 286,439 entire meals . . . You provided a safe place to sleep 50,435 times!
And along the way, 300 lost souls came to faith in Christ. Their lives will never be the same!
But as thrilled as I am look back at what you did in 2018, my heart is soaring when I look ahead — because God has opened incredible doors of unprecedented opportunity to minister to more homeless and hurting people than ever before . . . and more effectively than ever before.
In a few short months, by God’s grace and with your help, we will launch the new Center of Opportunity. From the day those doors swing open, the power of your compassion will be astoundingly multiplied.
Instead of 784 meals a day, we’ll have the potential to serve 3,000, with our commercial kitchen and dining room.
Instead of sheltering 155 people per night, we’ll more than double our capacity; we’ll be able to invite up to 350 men and women in off the streets, to a place of safety — and hope.
And I believe, instead of 300 folks coming to Christ, we’re going to see dramatically more choosing to start life over by walking with God.
PLUS: the new Center of Opportunity will enable us to collaborate more effectively with other support organizations and help people in so many ways — with medical and dental care, behavioral healthcare, veterans services, government assistance, affordable housing, re-entry support for former inmates, and more!
This is an incredible moment of opportunity for caring, compassion neighbors like you.
As our partner, you can help us have a more powerful impact than ever before on the lives of people in need in our community.
So I come to you today with joy . . . with hope . . . with a heart full of anticipation . . . to ask for your most generous possible gift of support.
Yes, the budget will be larger. With greater capacity comes greater impact and greater responsibility. We’ll have an increased need for faithful support.
But this is Tucson. I’ve seen how friends like you can make a powerful difference. It doesn’t take someone with massive wealth or extraordinary talents or some other extensive resources — although you may have those. What it really takes is a compassionate heart. A Christ-like willingness to care and to do whatever you can.
Each one of us, doing what we can . . . that’s how we change the world.
We need you! We need your vision, your enthusiasm, your dedication. I hope to hear from you soon. Thank you in advance! God bless you!
Yours in Christ,
Roy E. Tullgren III Executive Director
P.S. 2018 proved what we can do, if we pray and give and serve together. It was big. It was
important. It was great. But 2019 can bigger, greater — maybe even beyond what we can imagine today!
God has opened this door. Let’s go through it! Thanks again for being a part of this crucial work, helping homeless and hurting here in our own neighborhood. I thank God for you!
