Looking back on 2022, one word comes to mind more frequently than any other.
THANKFUL.
I am thankful to God that He has called us to serve the hurting and broken
I am thankful for the staff and volunteers who are the ambassadors of hope to those we serve. And I am especially thankful for your partnership. Without you undergirding us with prayer and financial support, we would be unable to impact so many lives.
There’s nothing like witnessing transformation – seeing someone go from homeless to wholeness – and this is something we are blessed to see every day at Gospel Rescue Mission. What always astonishes me is that the transformation touches everything about them. We have guests who come in anxious, hardened by life, and trust no one. But God gets ahold of their heart, and everything about them changes – they become unrecognizable from the person who walked into our doors, hungry and desperate. They become whole.
I am honored when I consider you and your heart for the homeless and hurting, and I want to thank you. Thank you for being a part of our legacy of wholeness.
Because of your generosity in 2022…
People often ask me how we are different from other shelters. There are practical ways in which we differ – having everything in one campus, for instance. But truthfully, the main difference is we understand that without Jesus, true and lasting transformation is not possible. This is a foundational truth for us. It’s why we treat everyone who comes through our doors with love, grace, dignity, and respect… It’s why we give with open hands, inviting the lost in to see how good God is and that He has a plan for their lives.
Thank you so much for your generosity!
As I look forward to 2023, I am both excited and uncertain.
I am excited because I know together we will change thousands of lives. We’ll meet people who are ready for transformation and a new beginning. They’ll come in broken and lost, and leave filled with hope and everything they need to live their lives free from the bondage of addiction and homelessness.
But I am uncertain because of what we witnessed in 2022, and the state of our community. More than ever before, we witnessed families who had never been homeless lose their homes because of inflation and job insecurity. We sheltered hundreds of children, saw the devastating impact of addiction, and provided mental health services to those who were isolated and desperate. I see the impact the past few years have had on the homeless and hurting. I am concerned for those individuals and families living in poverty, on the brink of homelessness, because I know all it takes is a small change – the loss of a job, an increase in rent, a broken down car… to make them destitute.
But with your help, GRM will always be there to step into the void – to be a light in the darkness for those who have lost hope. We need your prayers and generosity. With your gift of love, we can provide meals, shelter, the hope of Christ, and life-changing programs and services to move people from homeless to wholeness.
THANK YOU for your heart and willingness to love those in need!
Thanking God for you,
Lisa Chastain

P.S. This year we celebrate our 70th anniversary.
That’s 70 years of promises fulfilled, lives changed, miraculous transformations, and abundant blessing. You are part of that legacy of Hope, Shelter, Transformation. The past few years we have grown tremendously and this year the need is tremendous. Please consider giving generously so we can grow to meet the needs of those with the most need.
