Help us welcome our new Development Manager
For seven years, John Fung worked as the Director of Development at the University of Arizona College of Medicine Tucson. In that time, he helped raise over $16 million for research, scholarship, and faculty support.
While John couldn’t deny that things were going very well at work, there was something missing.
His faith.
“COVID put things in perspective for me. I couldn’t talk about my faith at the university level. While I was very grateful for the benefit of being able to put my kids through school without any debt, I got to the point where I needed to do more with my skills. I wanted to apply them at a faith-based non-profit with a mission I could agree with.”
God’s leading brought John to Gospel Rescue Mission.
John says, “GRM has been around for a long time. I knew them from volunteering at a Thanksgiving meal years ago. I agree with their mission and it being faith-based. Aside from feeding and sheltering the homeless, we also get to share the Gospel with the people we serve. That is important to me.”
He continued, “All the colleagues I have met are wonderful and they all love God. Working here will allow me to use my skills to further His kingdom.”
“In Tucson, there’s no other facility that does what we do. It’s more than just giving people a hot meal, a bed, and a place to shower. We strive to address their issues. We prepare them for future employment and independence. If I can use my skills to raise more funds and provide more resources for GRM, that’s the work I want to be doing.”
On behalf of all of us at GRM, amen to that! We’re proud to welcome John to the team and look forward to seeing what God has in store!
