Charitable Tax Credit

The end of the year is coming up fast, but there’s still time to make a tax-deductible gift that changes lives!

Thanks to Arizona’s Charitable Tax Credit, your tax dollars can be redirected to help someone find a new beginning, and most importantly – hope.

Gifts to Gospel Rescue Mission, up to $400 for those filing singly and up to $800 for those married filing jointly, can be claimed as a dollar-for-dollar tax credit against your state taxes!

It’s easy to claim your credit, just:

• Direct up to $800 (up to $400 if filing singly) to Gospel Rescue Mission by check or online at GRMTucson.com

• Complete AZ Form 321 (you can get it from azdor.gov).

• File AZ Form 321 with your 2021 taxes or give your form to your tax preparer for filing.

That’s it! And if you give before December 31st, your gifts over and above the $400 or $800 limits can be applied as a deduction on your federal taxes.

CARES Act Deduction – extended and revised for 2021!

Thanks to the CARES Act, the limits on federal charitable giving deductions (normally limited to 60 percent of your Adjusted Gross Income) have been removed! That means you can give up to 100 percent of your Adjusted Gross Income, and give yourself a potential $0 federal tax bill!

And one more thing that’s new for this year – the CARES Act also allows for an additional, “above-the-line” deduction for charitable gifts made in cash up to $300. This “above-the-line” deduction now doubles for those married filing jointly.

Joint filers (who aren’t itemizing) will be allowed to take an above-the-line deduction of up to $600 in cash contributions to charity this year!

It’s a great way to put your federal tax dollars to work, right here in Tucson. Combine this with the Arizona Charitable Tax Credit and you could end up changing lives while paying $0 on both your state AND federal taxes!
